Airlines Study
October 2007

Patrick is to lead a major study looking at air travel. Customers’ experiences with different airlines will be analysed and the best and worst rated airlines will be identified.
The key aim of the study is to identify the factors that influence people’s quality of experience when travelling and gain an understanding of how the airlines can optimise this experience. The study is being financed privately and is independent of the airline industry.
World Usability Day
October 2007
To mark this year's World Usability Day, Patrick will be speaking on the subject of The Four Pleasures at a seminar in Sweden.
The event, which is hosted by consulting firm Manador and sponsored by Patrick, will be held in Gothenburg on Thursday 8 November. It is one of many events being held all over the world to promote user-centered design.
Special Session on Driving
October 2007
Patrick is organising a special session on driving which will form part of the Applied Ergonomics International conference which will he held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from 14-17 July 2008.
The session, which Patrick will also chair, will include a wide range of papers about drivers and driving from some of the world’s leading researchers and practitioners in the area.
Driving Study
October 2007
In his role as consultant to a European-funded driving project, Patrick is leading a study investigating drivers’ behaviour and attitudes. The study will look at driving style, risk factors and the effect of personality on driving.
It will also look at the use of mobile phones and other devices while driving and investigate drivers’ views of in-car devices including driver assistance systems which help drivers to drive more safely. The project is in association with Chalmers University and Volvo. The results will be reported at Applied Ergonomics International in Las Vegas next year.
