Business to Buttons

February 2008

Patrick W. Jordan is will be one of the main corporate sponsors of this year’s Business to Buttons event to be held in Malmo in Sweden on 12 and 13 June.

 

The event, considered to be Europe’s leading interaction design conference, will be headlined by Donald Norman, probably the world’s leading guru on the subjects of ergonomics and design and emotion.

 

Pat will also be a keynote speaker. He said, “This event recognises the huge importance of design in helping a business to meet its commercial goals. I am delighted that our company is supporting this event and am proud to be a part of it.”

Driving into the Future

February 2008

Patrick will be leading research into a vision of the future for the use of new technology in cars. The research forms part of a project led by Chalmers University in Sweden in collaboration with Volvo.

 

Pat said. “The project has already produced some excellent research looking at the potential for new technology to assist motorists to drive more safely and efficiently. The Vision of the Future research aims to bring together what has been learned to inspire a safer future for us all.”

 

The research will run throughout 2008 and will be disseminated via conferences and academic publications.

Cultural Industries in China

February 2008

It has been announced that Pat will be a Keynote Speaker at this year’s China International Cultural Industries Fair to be held in Shenzhen from May 16 to 19.

 

The event, which is Asia’s leading fair of its type, will highlight the role of the cultural industries, including design and marketing, in promoting industry and helping companies to succeed in the global marketplace.

 

Patrick said, “This is an exciting time for China as it aims to move from a purely manufacturing base to a more value-added model, including the development of international brands. I am delighted to have been invited to participate in this event and look forward to getting a first-hand view of the progress that the creative industries are making in the country.”

Music Reviews

February 2008

Patrick has completed his first year as a music critic, reviewing the latest releases from many of the world’s leading artists.

 

Patrick, who formerly served in the Royal Army Medical Corps, writes for Soldier, the British Army’s news and lifestyle magazine which boasts a monthly readership of over 250,000.

 

He said, “Britain has a great tradition of creativity and the music industry has long been one of the jewels in our crown. It was great to see Amy Winehouse sweep the board at this year’s Grammy Awards and with so many exciting new bands making a breakthrough the future for British music continues to look superb.”
