Government Communication Projects
May 2010
Patrick has completed a series of 12 government projects focussing on new technologies and communication.
The projects, which were commissioned by the UK Government, involved conducting research, giving policy advice and identifying how government departments can use information and communication technology to disseminate information in areas such as: business, education, health, the family, and social security.
Patrick said, “One of the keys to a successful democracy and economy is ensuring effective communication both with businesses and individuals. These projects have been a significant step towards enhancing communication between the UK Government and our citizens.”
Vision of the Future for Design and Creative Industries
May 2010
Patrick will be giving a public lecture in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. In the lecture Patrick will talk about his vision for the future for design and the creative industries and about what is needed to succeed in the years ahead.
His talk, which is the keynote address at the ‘Year of Design’ event, will take place on 19 May 2010.
Patrick said, “Design and the creative industries will be crucial to the success of the worldwide economy in the first half of this century. I am delighted to have been invited to talk on this topic and I look forward to sharing my vision of the way forward for design in the international marketplace.”
Radio Documentaries: Success in Tough Times
May 2010
Patrick has been commissioned to write and present a series of eight radio documentaries on how to succeed in business and your career during times of recession. The documentaries will be broadcast on 10 Radio over the next few months and will also be available as downloadable podcasts.
The shows will cover the following issues:
- Starting a new company and developing a business
- Making successful career changes
- Progressing in your career even in tough times
- Coping with workplace stress and staying healthy
- Using your skills to generate extra income
- The benefits of doing voluntary work
- Coping with redundancy
- Having fun and fulfilment on a budget
The shows have been pre-recorded. We will post details of transmission times on this site when we have them.
Success in Business Lecture, Chamber of Commerce

Patrick will be giving a talk to the Chamber of Commerce on the subject of how to succeed in business. He will focus on the personal characteristics required to achieve success either as an entrepreneur or an employee.
He said, “As a psychologist I have spent my career studying the characteristics of those who succeed in business and in all areas of their lives. I look forward to sharing these secrets of success with the Chamber of Commerce and to discussing the issues that will shape our future both as individuals and as participants in the national and international marketplace.”

Success in Business Workshop, Manchester Business School

Patrick will be giving a workshop to MBA students at Manchester Business School on May 17th.
The workshop, which will consist of a lectures and exercises, will look at the lifestyle trends that characterise society both now and in the future and will look at the strategic and commercial implications of these for business.
Patrick said, “In a modern economy, the key to success is having an in depth knowledge of consumers, not only in terms of their spending patterns, but also in terms of their values and the attitudes and behaviours in which these values are reflected. This workshop aims to give participants a grounding in these issues and some tools and techniques for developing strategies which will help their businesses succeed.”
