Patrick’s webpage at the University of Surrey is now online.
Patrick has a visiting chair in the Digital World Research Centre and is currently researching in the following areas:
- Quality of Life and Innovation
- Social Networking
- Digital Strategy
He will also have a consulting/mentoring role on a number of the centre’s ongoing projects.
IBC/CMI Keynote Speech, 10 December 2010

Patrick will be giving a keynote speech at an event organised by The Institute of Business Consulting and the Chartered Management Institute.
The event will take place on Friday 10 December in Bristol, UK. His talk will be on The Principles of Success.
Patrick said, “This talk is based on positive psychology – the scientific study of why some people are more successful than others. Research in this field has identified five key principles that differentiate the most successful people from others. We will look at each of these principles in depth and at how we can apply them to our professional and personal lives.”

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Seminars
November 2010
Patrick will be giving five seminars on the Principles of Success for the UK’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
These hour-long lectures will look at the key findings from positive psychology and at how to apply these in the workplace, to enhance both our own performance and that of the people we manage.
The branches, locations and dates are as follows:
- South East Wales Branch: Cardiff, 7 December 2010
- Lancashire Branch: Balderstone, (Lancashire), 19 January 2011
- Wessex Branch: Portsmouth, 25 January 2011
- Chiltern Branch: High Wycombe, 22 March 2011 (more details to follow)
- Thames Valley Branch: Venue and date to be decided.
Innovation Seminar, City University
November 2010
It has been confirmed that Patrick is to give a seminar at City University on the subject of person-centred innovation on Thursday 20 January 2011. The lecture will be based around the Four Pleasures Framework and will look at how a deep understanding of people is the key to successful innovation in the marketplace and in society as a whole.
City University run a Master’s course in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Patrick said, “It is great that City are offering a course in an area which I believe is vital to the development of the international economy. I am delighted to have been asked to give a seminar on this topic and hope that it will be of interest not only to those on the course but to all those who are working to create engaging products and services which fulfil consumers wishes and needs.”
The lecture will take place from 6pm – 7.30pm. We will post more details on this site as we have them.
