Innovation and Quality of Life Lecture, 3 November 2010
October 2010

Patrick is to give a public lecture at the University of Surrey on the subject of innovation and quality of life. The lecture will be based around his ‘Good Society Framework’ which identifies nine dimensions by which quality of life can be assessed.
He said, “Innovation is the engine which drives the modern economy and the ultimate test of an innovation is whether it enhances quality of life. In this lecture I will be exploring how we can do that and looking at recent examples demonstrating how good innovation not only brings economic rewards, but also makes life better for us in a meaningful way.”
Patrick has a Visiting Chair at the University of Surrey’s Digital World Research Centre.
The lecture is free to attend. We will post more details on this site as soon as we have them.
Institute for Ergonomics and Human Factors, Keynote Lecture 2011
October 2010
Patrick will be a keynote speaker at next year’s annual conference of the Institute for Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF). The event will take place in the UK in April 2011 and will feature the latest research findings in the field.
Patrick said, “I gave my first ever conference presentation at the IEHF back in 1991, although in those days it was known as the Ergonomics Society. I regard it as a great honour to have been asked to give a keynote there next year and very much look forward to having the chance to meet up with many of the leading practitioners in the field.”
The topic for Patrick’s presentation has not yet been confirmed, but we will post more details here as soon as we have them.
Person-Centred Innovation Seminar, City University
October 2010
Patrick is to give a seminar at City University on the subject of person-centred innovation. The lecture will be based around the Four Pleasures Framework and will look at how a deep understanding of people is the key to successful innovation in the marketplace and in society as a whole.
City University run a Master’s course in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership. Patrick said, “It is great that City are offering a course in an area which I believe is vital to the development of the international economy. I am delighted to have been asked to give a seminar on this topic and hope that it will be of interest not only to those on the course but to all those who are working to create engaging products and services which fulfil consumers wishes and needs.”
The date for the seminar is still to be confirmed. We will post further details here shortly.
