Visiting Professorship, Digital World Research Centre

Patrick has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at the Digital World Research Centre (DWRC) at the University of Surrey. The DWRC carries out research and implements projects that drive innovation in digital media technology, with a focus both on business and on benefiting society generally.
He said, “It is great to have the opportunity to work with the DWRC. They have done some tremendous work, in particular in looking at how technology can enhance quality of life, which is a research area that I am very interested in.”
Earlier this year Patrick led a series of 12 projects looking at the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in government and society.
PhD Studentship and Bursary, University of Derby

The University of Derby has a PhD place available for a postgraduate who is interested in expanding on Patrick’s work in the area of design, emotion and quality of life.
Dr Miles Richardson, of the University of Derby School of Science said, “This PhD studentship offers an ideal opportunity to study Patrick Jordan’s work and to develop it further.”
The studentship is for either three or four years and comes with a bursary of £ 14,300 per annum. The deadline for applications is 24 September 2010, with the studentships beginning in November 2010.

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Talk, 16 September 2010

Patrick will be speaking at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) on 16 September 2010.
Patrick will be talking about The Principles of Success.
He said, “I am very much looking forward to this event. We will be looking at the findings from positive psychology about how to be successful and fulfilled in all areas of life, but with particular emphasis on work and career.”

Patrick’s interview with designer and artist Younghui Kim will be broadcast this month on his Extraordinary Lives radio show.
Kim is recognised as one of the most original and creative figures in the world of digital media, with her work winning numerous awards and gaining extensive media coverage. This work combines the latest developments in technology with leading-edge fashion and product design.
Kim has her own company, Missing Pixel, which is based in New York and lectures at Hongik University in South Korea, where she has also carries out groundbreaking research at the Hongik WCU Media Public Art Research Center.
In the show she charts her career, showcases some of her work and shares the secrets of her success in this most competitive of industries.

Institute of Business Consulting Talk, 19 October 2010

Patrick will be speaking at The Institute of Business Consulting on 19 October 2010.
This talk will also be on the The Principles of Success.
He said, “As someone who has spent the majority of my career working as a consultant, I have gained an understanding of the key principles of successful consulting and of the characteristics that make a person successful in this role. In this talk I will share some of my own experiences as well as looking at some of the general principles behind delivering maximum value in a consultancy role”

British Psychological Society Success Workshop, 26 February 2011

Patrick will be running a British Psychological Society workshop on the Principles of Success. It will take place in Bristol on Saturday 26 February 2011.
During the workshop, participants will learn about each of the five Principles of Success and why they work, as well as a set of practical tools and techniques for applying them to all aspects of their professional and personal lives.
